The Ultimate Combination of Education and Technology - The Distance MBA Degree

Due to the incessant and ever-increasing demand of many companies and corporations for the most talented and skilled people to hold their tops posts, the need for a comprehensive and detailed system of training these select individuals has risen over the years. And the best way to get a scientific based approach to management is through the perfect balance of theory and practice that is offered by an MBA degree. Very few other programs, if any, offer better training in all the aspects and nuances of management and running every aspect of a business like the MBA program. So it's not surprising that more and more people are turning to it to enrich their knowledge and to significantly bolster their resumes.

It's a very common fact that those who have received the benefit of an MBA degree are usually entrusted with higher posts, greater responsibilities, and higher pay than those who attempt to climb the corporate ladder without them. But it's also true that there are several people who are not able due to time, schedule or distance to enroll themselves in traditional MBA classes. Many of these classes would require students to attend classes like regular university students or to attend night classes. And for those who live far away from institutions of learning or are engaged with their jobs or families far too much too much to have time or energy to spare, this poses serious problems. Many just have to accept the fact that a regular MBA degree is not for them. But should this stop gifted individuals from learning advanced management skills? Of course not!

The perfect solution for this problem would be the distance MBA degree. Distance education, as its name implies, is perfect for educating students that are not physically 'on-site'. And because of significant advances in technology, such as the Internet and all the powers of communication that come with it (such as web chat, e-mails, online modules etc.) students are assured that they get their lectures in real time and that their reading materials are received complete and with as little delay as possible.

There are many forms to this kind of education. These include: correspondence courses through snail or e-mail, non-interactive broadcast video, pre-recorded video, live teleconference or videoconference, and online/offline computer courses. With the variety of options, students can pick the one that is most convenient for their needs.

3 Crucial Elements to Avoid "Fake" Degrees

I came across a website the other day that offered "life experience degrees" and wondered if anyone really paid for that. Wouldn't the work experience you have listed on your resume be enough or do you actually need a certificate that validates your work experience? When looking for the right online college or university to attend, here are a few pointers to make sure the degree you get is a quality degree vs. a "diploma mill" degree.

First and foremost, it cannot be stressed enough that you must check the accreditation of the online college or university. To receive accreditation, an online college or university must undergo a thorough evaluation process to ensure that the online college or university offers a quality education that is equivalent to that of a traditional college. An outside accrediting body performs the evaluation. Some schools don't qualify for accreditation and some accredited schools have even lost accreditation for various reasons. Accreditation also ensures that the online college or university adheres to academic standards. A great way to check accreditation is to visit the U.S. Department of Education Database of Accredited Postsecondary Institutions and Programs website.

In your search for an online college or university, you may come across sites that offer quick degrees or claim that you can earn an associates or bachelors in no time. Be wary of these claims. The length of time to earn your associates degree or bachelors degree online should be very similar to that of earning your associates degree or bachelors degree through a traditional school such as a community college or state university. While some online colleges or universities can help you earn an associates degree or bachelors degree in a little less time, be cautious of those that can offer you an associates degree or bachelors degree in just a few short months.

Finally, make sure there is a counselor or professor you can actually speak to or even meet with if necessary. If you need help or guidance, you want to make sure that there is someone you can call or see rather than correspond back and forth with a computer. Established, accredited online colleges or universities will typically provide you with a list of numbers to call for specific situations.

Is it Worth it to Do Your Studies Online?

I did it. I just graduated from college. If it had been asked to me 10 years ago I would have never guessed that I would be a college graduate. Not only that but I am about to go back to start my masters degree.

This may not seem a big deal to some out there but as a father, husband, and career man it is. I was able to do this all the while working and providing for my family. And I even would go to class in my bathrobe. This is the ease of online studying. Not to say that the class work is easy cause it isn't, but to say the easiness comes from me being able to read to my daughter at night and tuck her in, then I could retire to my office and work on my classes. It wasn't always a simple thing because my duties as a husband and father always took precedence. Even through my duties as a man I persevered and with the encouragement of my wife I was always able to do what I needed to for my classes. I was even surprised by the grades I received. This was also a huge benefit to my career.

My career as a manager in my company was positively effected not only by just my decision to attend school but also in my performance. After I had decided to go to school and looked at my options I realized that online schooling was going to be the only way that I could attend. It was a little more expensive but my company like many others offered tuition reimbursement, and would pay more based on the grade received. With my performance at work exceeding expectations and then the fact that I was also a full time dad, husband and student and getting the grades I got upper management was very impressed. This was in part due to the way that my classes were set up.

My classes were not classes with a bunch of 18 year old kids but with men and women like me who were in my same career field. Through my class work and working with my classmates I was able to become a more effective manager. And my performance at work was note worthy.

Through all of this experience I have learned much more than just book studies but many life lessons. We can attain anything if we will put our minds to it and even more importantly have a support system. I love school and can't wait for my next class to begin. I can't wait to add some more letters after my name on my business cards. Good luck to you all in your endeavors and I hope that you are able to make the best possible decision for your schooling.
